Marilyn’s Barr Bear With me, the first book in her Strawberry Shifters series hits all the right notes when it comes to a paranormal romance. Her blend of magic, shifters, and love allows readers to not only see the relationship between her hero and heroine, but an entire cast of characters that would be justified in having a book of their own. The camaraderie in this small Southern town is a gift we could all hope to copy. No one cares how you came to be there, nor do they care about what your shifter talent might be, they just want to live in peace without outside forces sweeping in. Grant Luther fears he’s lost his wife’s love. He works all the time so he can financially make certain his wife and their son will be protected if something happens to him. Allison loves her husband deeply but despises the fact he treats her like a fragile jewel. She has a sensory processing disorder, but she hides another secret. One night on his way home Grant gets hijacked by two co-workers and is changed into a shape-shifting bear with a different attitude. Just when he convinces Allison he loves her she and their son are kidnapped by an evil Fae who plans to eat their hearts. The thought of losing her is more than he can bear, and even if he has to have his vampire neighbor fly him to where they are held captive, he is willing to forego his desire to smack Ryan because the vamp was ogling his wife. Let’s just say from there it gets real. The scene inside the deserted castle will make your heart thump, and have you jumping at every noise you hear. I can tell you what happens next, but It would be a lot more fun if you read this book yourself. My computer keys are going crazy with delight that I was given the chance to follow Allison and Grant’s journey of discovery while they tried to stay alive at the same time.

Beneath its beautiful scenery lies a collection of evil Slaugh, former fairies, cast out for their bad behaviors. And they’re out for the blood of the local clan of shifters. As the new moon approaches, Grant, as the new leader of the shifters, and Alison, as a green witch, find themselves and those they care about in grave danger. Together, they battle the Slaugh, discovering new, underexplored facets to each other—and rescue their marriage.
Our Review: This non-stop action series with its deliciously hot sexual undertones, features two multi-layered lead characters whose strong wills and bold facades hide bleeding hearts and deep devotion to their beloved son. The author brings true and clear emotions to this story, ones that ring true and clear.
On a scale of 1-5, Bear With Me deserves a 4.
