This past fall, I said goodbye to all social media.

This made me feel…

free…

disconnected to the friends and acquaintances I had gathered over the years…

yet…

A beautiful few reached out to me because of some connection we had, no matter how tenuous or how long ago that connection had been made.

Those connections are the sparks we romance authors try to get on the page. I plan to use the inspiration my friends gave me when I said that I could take no more of the ugliness and false fronts of so many in the digital world.

One of the people who has kept in touch with me said such beautiful words that I was afraid to answer. I didn’t want to damage the connection the two of us had felt one night nearly a decade ago. That one magical night when we time-traveled back to our young adulthood through music will remain with me forever. That feeling, this thread that twines between us glows with a gorgeous golden hue, will find its place in a story. It will be my way of immortalizing the moment.

Though I will no longer do social media until I know my mental health can handle it, I have resolved to share a story here at least once a week. I can’t promise happiness or sadness or drama or delight. I will only promise that the writings here are true, based on the strangeness of my life.

For now, I wish for you to remember one magical moment. Hold on to it. These are true treasures.
