Rohret Buchner is the pen name I used to write the Shalemar Trilogy, a fantasy series consisting of Length of Days, Poetry of Days, and the forthcoming Wonder of Days. Rohret Buchner honors my grandmothers Hilda Rohret Long and Margaret Buchner Coyne.
The Shalemar Trilogy tells the tale of Shara Kennington, a college student on a scientific mission with her father to Antarctica. She falls through the ice and into a hidden world, where her arrival has been foretold for 500 years. The civilization she encounters developed after a pirated Spanish galleon was lost in a storm and drifted south to Antarctica, where the ship followed a river to a lush environment rich with possibilities. Across the three novels Shara is transformed from reluctant heroine to warrior queen.
